This is a short version of how to do EFT in a nutshell. The important thing is to be as specific about your issue as possible and to think of an event that may correlate with the emotion or difficulty you are working with.

EFT Basic Recipe

The Discovery Statement:  The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.

1.  On a scale of one to ten, evaluate the severity of the problem, where ten is the worst it can be and zero means there is none at all.

2. The Setup - corrects polarity of one’s energy system, removes an energy blockage.  Repeat your affirmation 3 times while you rub your sore spot or tap the Karate Chop point.

“Even though I have this________________, I deeply and completely love, accept ,and forgive myself.”

3.  The Sequence - Tap about 5-7 times on each of the following energy points while repeating the Reminder Phrase at each point. Example “anxiety” or “this anxiety”

EB, SE, UE, UN, Ch, CB, UA,TOH, Th, IF, MF, BF, KC (see below for what abbreviations mean)

4.  The 9 Gamut Procedure- Continuously tap on the Gamut point (back of the hand, in the groove between the ring and baby finger) while completing each of these 9 actions:

(l) Eyes Closed (2)Eyes open (3)Eyes hard down right (4)Eyes hard down left (5) Roll eyes in circle (6) Roll eyes in other direction (7) Hum 2 seconds of a song “happy birthday” (8) count to 5 (9) Hum again 2-3 sec

5.  The Sequence (again)  Tap about 5-7 times on each of the following energy points while repeating the Reminder Phrase at each point: EB, SE, UE, UN,Ch,UA, TOH, TH,IF,MF,BF KC

6. Repeat the Setup and Sequence

In subsequent rounds change the Setup phrase to be:

“Even though I still have some of this ________ I deeply and completely accept myself”.

Change the reminder phrase to “remaining _________” (e.g. remaining anxiety) and tap on all 13 points again.

EB = eyebrow (on bony part above inner end of it)
SE = side of eye (on bony part to the outside)
UE = under eye (on bony part)
UN = under nose, about halfway to lipCH = chin (at fold, midway between lip and chin)
CB = collar bone (below inner end)
UA = under arm (women in middle of bra strap; men: level with nipple)
TOP = top of head in the middle of the head
TH = thumb (outside side beside the nail)
IF = index finger (side nearest thumb and beside the nail)
MF = middle finger (side nearest index finger and beside the nail)
BF = baby finger (side nearest index finger and beside the nail)
KC = Karate chop (on the outside pad of the palm halfway between the base of the little finger and the beginning of the wrist)

Optional Points-

LS=Liver spot (not shown on diagram)=about 2” under your right breast and a few inches toward your side.
CRH= Crown of the head- toward the back, just before it goes vertical
WR= Bump your wrists together, where you hand bends to meet the arm
